This book is a vast educational fresco which explores the link between agriculture and architecture, two complementary practices of domestication which emerged around 10,000 years ago.
In the contemporary context of an ecological dead-end, no sensible reflection will be able to develop on the future of architecture and agriculture until they are reconnected and fundamentally rethought in conjunction with one another.

This book was published with the support of the School of Architecture of the City & Territories Paris-Est / Université Gustave-Eiffel.


A first book based on the exhibition was published in English among the five volumes “The Poetics of Reason” as part of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale in 2019 by Polígrafa editions and is no longer available.

Are metropolises really the “manifest destiny” of humankind? Is the environmental predicament calling for more concentration and incorporation? Or is it conducive to some kind of urban exodus? By and large, what might be the principles and ethics of design in such a condition? These are some of the issues that this book addresses.
